THE body of missing man Russell Tomlinson has been found in the River Weaver more than two months after he was last seen.

Cheshire Police issued a number of urgent appeals to help find the 42-year-old from Northwich after he was last spotted on November 18.

Russell was reported missing on November 19 after his family became increasingly concerned for his welfare as they were not able to get in touch with him.

An extensive investigation and search was carried out which also involved divers from the North West Police Underwater Search & Marine Unit.

Sadly, Russell's body was discovered in the river near Winnington Lane, Northwich, yesterday (January 24).

A police spokesman said formal identification has confirmed the body is that of Russell and his death is not believed to be suspicious.

Russell’s family have been informed and they have issued the following statement: "We would like to thank everyone involved in the search for Russell, and for all of the support received during this difficult time.

"Russell was a wonderful son, brother, uncle & friend. He had a passion for live music and was a talented singer/songwriter. He will be missed by all of us x."

A file will be prepared for the coroner.
