Two people arrested on suspicion of armed robbery at shop

CHESHIRE Police have arrested two people suspected of carrying out a robbery with a handgun in Ellesmere Port.

At 7.25am on Wednesday morning police received reports of an armed robbery at the Loxdale Local shop in Loxdale Drive, Ellesmere Port.

A man entered the shop with what is believed to have been a handgun and has threatened staff. He stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene.

Following an initial investigation, a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both from the Ellesmere Port area, have been arrested and remain in police custody.

A 33-year-old man, also from the Ellesmere Port area, has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 119 of 27th August. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
