Tarporley fire team hit road on Flame Tamer 2

THIRTY two years ago four firefighters from Tarporley Fire Station jumped on a four-man tandem bike and rode to London for charity.

This weekend, history is set to repeat itself as colleagues from the same station attempt a similar charity ride, using a bike they have modelled on the original, called ‘Flame Tamer’.

They will start the 226-mile route at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, crossing the finish line at Great Ormond Street in London.

Tarporley firefighter Martin Boardman said: “The bike has been in the planning stages for a while as we tried to work out how to build it following a photo we have of the original Flame Tamer.

“With the help of Harbrook Engineering, Reaseheath College and Audlem Cycles we have finally cracked it and Flame Tamer 2 is ready for the ride.”
