A CHESTER postman was caught pleasuring himself while parked up in a busy supermarket car park, a court heard.
Royal Mail worker Grenville Porter, 62, who was convicted for the exact same offence at a different Chester supermarket in 2009, yesterday pleaded guilty before West Cheshire Magistrates to an Act of outraging public decency.
Grenville, who lives alone at Meynell Place, Blacon, was spotted carrying a sex act on himself by a horrified shopper and his family at Tesco, Sealand Road.
Carolyn Viviani, prosecuting, told the Chester court: “At about 4pm on July 1, a witness, while helping his youngest child out of the car, had his attention drawn to the defendant who was sat in a vehicle. The witness saw the defendant holding the steering wheel.
“The witness formed the opinion that the defendant was in fact masturbating. He continued to watch the defendant before alerting a police officer.”
Grenville, who chose to represent himself during the hearing, said: “I don’t do it to get attention, I did it out of sexual frustration. I know it was wrong.”
Ms Viviani said the offence was aggravated by the fact that it was in a public place, and that there were children present.
Grenville, who carried out the exact same act in Morrison’s supermarket car park, the Bache, Chester, five years earlier, agreed to complete the Northumbria Sexual Offenders programme.
Magistrates sentenced him to a three year community order, with supervision, along with a 28 day curfew.
He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
