STAFF at the Countess of Chester Hospital are calling for support in their efforts to give the children’s section a bright, new makeover.
The theatre recovery unit team is aiming to have a mural painted using an Enchanted theme featuring fairies, wizards and castles, to provide a more appropriate, fun and stimulating environment.
New curtains and flooring will be added to fit in with the new theme.
The target is to raise £3,000, which will allow staff to buy some new wipeable toys for children to play with during their recovery period before they are transferred back to their ward.
General upgrading and refurbishment work in the area is being paid for from the hospital’s maintenance budget, but staff wanted something ‘over and above the norm’.
They are now planning other fundraising projects.
Clare Anne Lunt works in the unit, and together with some of her friends recently took part in the annual 50-mile bike ride from Liverpool to Chester and back, and has raised £300 already.
They are keen to hear from any individual or a local company, who would like to make a donation towards this project.
