Chester street robbery victim hit on head from behind

A MAN was hit on the head from behind during a street robbery in broad daylight.

The 29-year-old man was walking along Newton Lane at 2.10pm on Tuesday when he was struck to the head from behind by an unknown man.

A struggle ensued and the attacker stole a quantity of cash from the victim before making off on foot. 

The victim suffered minor injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.

The attacker is believed to have run back along Newton Lane towards Hoole.

He is described as white, in his early 20s and about 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins tall. He was of a slim build and had short, shaved fair hair. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and spoke with a local accent.

DC Oliver Carruthers said: “This incident occurred in a busy residential area in broad daylight.”

“It is highly likely members of the public may have witnessed the attack or the events preceding it. 

“I would urge anyone with information to contact me so I can find the person responsible.”
