HUNDREDS of people flocked to Chester over the weekend as temperatures soared.
Barely a patch of grass was visible at Sandy Lane by the River Dee as sun-seekers soaked up the rays and munched on picnics and ice-cream.
Businesses and accommodation providers have been enjoying a welcome rise in trade, and tourism chiefs have said they are delighted with the boost in footfall.
Nick Brown, of Marketing Cheshire, said: “The city has been alive over the last couple of weeks in the sun.
“The fantastic weather has really brought a great atmosphere to the streets and brought people out of their houses into the great attractions such as the amphitheatre, Moon Light Flicks, and the new look Grosvenor Park and open air theatre.
“It’s great to see the buzz we have in the al fresco dining areas of many of the restaurants around the city too. Chester is a city for all weather conditions, but the sun really brings out best it has to offer.”
