Shopper held at knifepoint in Chester store robbery

A CUSTOMER was grabbed and held at knifepoint by a robber who demanded cash from shopkeepers.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the armed raid at a store on the University of Chester campus in Parkgate Road.

One man entered the shop armed with a knife and grabbed a female customer. He threatened her and demanded cash from staff. When staff handed over cash he fled on foot.

The woman, who is 19 years old, was left shaken, but not injured.

A spokesman for the University of Chester said they were helping police with its ongoing investigation.

Following police enquiries, a 30 year old local man was arrested on suspicion of robbery, and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Police remain keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any part of the incident, or have any relevant information to the robbery on Wednesday at 3.10pm.
