MARK ROWLANDS starred for Chester Boughton Hall in their convincing National Club Championship second round victory.

Rowlands top scored with 82 runs alongside Ollie Law (75 not out) to earn the Filkins Lane club a seven wicket win against Neston.

Boughton Hall posted 221-3 after Bob Evans had taken 3-31 to restrict the visitors to 217-8 which featured 62 runs by Dane Williams.

Roger Watt top scored for Chester County Officers in their Cheshire League Division One defeat at leaders Stockport Georgians.

Watt scored 55 runs alongside Dave Downham (31), skipper Chris Wright (28 not out) and Josh Silver (22) before Officers were skittled all out for 148 thanks to Georgians’ Aussie bowler, Matt Grace, who took 5-3 in his second spell.

Grace then scored with 60 not out for the hosts and Officers hopes were dented after 10 overs when wicketkeeper, Wright, had to leave the field with a broken finger.

Officers failed to prevent Georgians from going on to record an eight wicket victory on 150-2.

Saughall suffered a home defeat against Appleton in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

Mike Andrews (31) helped Saughall reach 58-1, but the club then collapsed calamatously to 92-8 with only Martin Huxley (15) and Ben Salisbury (16) finding any answers.

Mandeep Singh added 21 runs, but Appleton’s spinners Rashid (3-25) and Cooper (3-10) helped dismiss Saughall for 111 after 40.3 overs.

A couple of early wickets in Appleton’s reply gave Saughall a glimmer of home but some solid batting from Clarke (33) and Lomas (28) put the visitors in control.

Mike Andrews (2-27) took a couple of late wickets as Appleton reached 113-6 to claim victory.

Barrow lost their Cheshire League Division Two match at Bunbury by nine wickets.
Barrow made 230-6 declared after 44 overs but Bunbury reached 240-1 in reply.
Saughall seconds claimed a thrilling victory at Port Sunlight thirds.

Saughall made 136 thanks to 58 from Jonathon O’Mara and 24 from Josh Foulkes, while Peter Sundve was the star performer for Sunlight after taking 3-8 off 10 overs.

O’Mara followed up his half century with 5-17 and Paul Woodworth took two vital top-order wickets, but it looked like the hosts were favourites as the match entered a thrilling finale.

However, youngster Jamie Leek stepped up to the plate with Port Sunlight just one run adrift of their target, inducing a rash shot that was nervelessly held at point to spark wild celebrations as Saughall claimed a dramatic victory.

Alvanley seconds lost by four wickets in their match at Upton.

Glenn Pickersgill smashed 110 not out for Alvanley, but only two other team-mates achieved double figured scores as their side made 173-6 after 50 overs.

Andy Beacher top scored with 60 as Upton amassed a winning reply of 175-6 after 40.2 overs.

Tattenhall seconds suffered a two wicket defeat against Timperley.

Mel Dobson took 3-55 off 17 overs to restrict Timperley to 212-6 after 50 overs before Jason Davidson (56) top scored for Tattenhall who were dismissed for 151 off 42.5 overs.

Bob Knight took 5-31 off 15 overs for Chester Boughton Hall thirds who scored a 10 wicket victory against Oxton.

Knight restricted Oxton to 119-4 off 50 overs, before Ian Metcalf (61 not out) and Ian Thistlewood (41 not out) combined to help the Filkins Lane club achieve a winning reply of 120 without loss after 11 overs.

Joe Maddocks starred for Chester Boughton Hall fourths in their 34 run win at Urmston.

Maddocks took 5-37 off 14 overs to help dismiss the home club for 158 after Paul Desormeaux (61) and Rob Morris (64) had top scored in Boughton Hall’s 192 all out total off 39 overs.

n Ali Carter steered Chester Boughton Hall to success in their Cheshire Womens League Division One match against Romiley and Dinting.

Carter hit 34 runs alongside Sophie Ecclestone (33) and Nic Capes (33 not out) as Boughton Hall made 152-5 off 40 overs.

Annette Axon then took 4-22 to restrict Romiley to 131-7 which featured Penny Critchlow (103 not out) compiling the first century in the league’s history.
