A REFURBISHED pub on the outskirts of Chester has landed a national award.

The Fishpool Inn, Delamere, was crowned the best new pub in the UK at the 2014 Publican Awards held at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The venue, owned and operated by Nelson Hotels, opened in February 2013 following a comprehensive £2million refurbishment.

After a 13 month long restoration of the 17th century historic building,
The Fishpool Inn is now a popular gastro pub.

The Publican Awards judging process was rigorous with meticulous attention being paid to how the site was redeveloped, the efficacy of design and space, the marketing and promotion, the quality of the food and drink as well as the overall success of the venture.

Editor of the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, Rob Willock said: “Nelson Hotels really impressed the judges with their detailed approach to the refurbishment and how they marketed the venue pre-launch.

“It is a lesson in how to successfully transform a faded roadside pub into a unique and thriving family gastro pub. A very worthy winner.”

Andrew Nelson, operations director of Nelson Hotels, said: “The core values behind The Fishpool Inn, as with all the properties in our group, is to provide a comfortable and characterful setting and an exceptional food offering that is delivered with genuine warmth and hospitality. This is our commitment and we are delighted it has been recognised by the judges.”
