Spanish TV presenter is really stuck in Chester

A SPANISH TV series for people learning English has been filming at locations throughout Chester.

Presenter Alex Willis Bray got a little more than she expected during filming at the Cross with Chester’s Town Crier David Mitchell.

The shocked presenter found herself locked into the stocks to the delight of producer Peter Walton.

“It’s not often that I find myself locked into stocks,” admitted Alex, on her first visit to Chester. “Chester is such a beautiful city, and I love the shops.”

Whether Alex had much time for shopping is doubtful as Chester was day nine on a tight schedule filming around the country for That’s English – That’s Britain an educational programme commissioned by the Spanish Ministry for Education for Spanish television.

Peter said: “The programme works as an educational tool for learning English as well as promotion for some of the UK’s great travel and tourism options.

“The target audience of the programme is young adults and young families between the ages of 15 and 50.”

The crew filmed in Eastgate Street, the Town Hall Square, The Rows and Bridge Street.

Town Crier David Mitchell was filmed in his new livery at the Cross before filming was staged with Roman soldiers and the crew also visited the Walls and the banks of the River Dee.

Cllr Stuart Parker, executive member for culture and economy, said: “Cheshire West is welcoming a growing number of film crews following Foyle’s War, the new Chester Zoo drama Our Zoo and the Disney production Evermoor.

“We also have enquiries from CBBC and two independent films are planning future visits.”

Cllr Samantha Dixon said: “Cheshire West and Chester Council provide a co-ordination service for television and film crews, helping with locations and liaison with other agencies and the Spanish TV filming will, I am sure, be a great success.”

The town crier will start his daily proclamations from the Cross in May.
