Witness plea over incident in Blacon

Staff reporter (Leader Live)

POLICE have moved to allay fears two men attempted to ‘abduct’ a teenager in Blacon.

Rumours began circulating on social media sites that the men had tried to get an 18-year-old girl into their car on Durham Road at about 8.15am on Friday.

Cheshire Police said all such reports were treated seriously but confirmed the approach was not being treated as an attempted abduction.

Officers are “establishing the circumstances” and have asked anyone with information to contact them.

A spokesman from Cheshire Police said: “The two men asked the girl for directions and suggested she got in the car. She refused and the men began to shout at her. She then got on a bus. Officers did make a search of the area but no one was traced.

“We are establishing the circumstances but at no point did the men try to grab the woman or physically force her into the car.”

Anyone with information can call police on 101.
