STAFF and members from a Chester health club are gearing up to take part in a mammoth 300-mile charity cycle ride from London to Paris.
The Club and Spa at Hoole Hall’s charity feat will start on September 22 in an effort to raise £5,000 for The Hospice of the Good Shepherd, in Backford, Chester.
Starting from London, the cycle route will take four days in total – an average of 75 miles per day.
To get the ball rolling with their fundraising, staff members have been visiting local supermarkets with spinning bikes and have already raised £4,000 towards their total.
Members and staff have joined forces to raise as much money as possible for the hospice which provides highly specialised care for people living with incurable illnesses. Patients come from the communities of Chester, Deeside, Ellesmere Port and rural Cheshire.
The four-day cycling itinerary will start at 7am going from London to Dover followed by Calais to Arras, then on to Compiegne, and the final push to the finish at Trocadero Gardens in Paris – overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
Sales and marketing manager Alice Cox said: “We are all extremely motivated for the challenge.
“It is an excellent cause and we feel that it is our duty as a local business to do all we can to contribute. We will certainly be working hard to earn the money that people have kindly sponsored us.”
