FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a van blaze at leisure centre car park in Ellesmere Port.

One engine from the town attended the fire at Ellesmere Port Sports Village shortly after 1.40pm today (October 8).

The crew was at the scene for just under an hour.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At around 1.40pm firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the car park at Ellesmere Port Sports Village."

"On arrival the crew found that a white van was well alight.

"Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and were in attendance at the incident for around 50 minutes."
