Young man dies after suffering serious head injury at work in Bromborough shipyard

A 22-year-old man has died after suffering a serious head injury at work in a Bromborough shipyard.

The death is being treated as “unexplained” by police and the man, thought to be a worker at Carmet Marine Ltd in Riverbank Road, has not yet been named.

Police were called to the site by employees who reported that a co-worker had been involved in an incident at work amd sustained a serious head injury.

The North West Ambulance Service later confirmed that they attended Carmet Marine Ltd at 11.08am last Thursday and a 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carmet Marine’s site in Riverbank Road was secured immediately following the tragic event, but has since been reopened and the company is open for business.

An investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death will be carried out by detectives and the Health and Safety Executive.
