IT HAS been a busy time for Ellesmere Port Round Table as members have handed out £770 to an Ellesmere Port charity.

The money was presented to The Wirral Community Narrowboat Trust.

Pauline Pollard of The Wirral Community Narrowboat Trust said: "It was such a nice surprise to be given this donation from the lads at Ellesmere Port Round Table, this came out of the blue after they had contacted us via a former member of Ellesmere Port Round Table David Wyness, we are all really grateful for this.

"This money will be used for narrowboat trips on the canal for people who, by virtue of age, infirmity, physical disability, mental disorder or social factors, are disadvantaged or deprived.”

Chairman Mark Howard said: "This is one of the many things that Ellesmere Round Table are here for, is to make small but meaningful donation to those people that are falling under the radar of other means of funding.

"All the money that we raise each year goes to local good causes and charities within the Ellesmere Port area.

"We all work hard to make sure that this happens as much as possible. We are in the build up to our annual Santa Float that has made such a welcome return to the streets Ellesmere Port over the last couple of couple of years in the run up to Christmas, it is only with the continued support of the community of Ellesmere Port that we are able to help local charities and good causes such as the Wirral Community Narrowboat Trust.

"Ellesmere Port Round Table is different things to different people, raising money for local good causes and charities is just one of the many things that we do.

"From meeting for a simple social night and a few drinks, through to white water rafting. If you are a guy aged between 18 and 45 looking for something extra to do a couple of times month, then we are looking to speak to you!"
