THIS was the cause of disruption on the M56 near Frodsham yesterday afternoon (Saturday, September 22).
Two fire crews - one from Runcorn and one from Ellesmere Port - were sent to the scene to tackle the car fire at around 5.30pm.
No one is believed to have been injured and the cause of the blaze is not yet known.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used to put out a vehicle fire on the M56.
"Firefighters attended after a VW Golf was reported well alight and also used foam to control the fuel fire. Crews were at the scene for an hour."
