A DEESIDE woman has thanked her local community for donating to her birthday fundraiser.

Lynne Chick is raising money for Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool after she was inspired by the care she and her daughter Emily received.

The 46-year-old set the initial target at £100 but the total has more than doubled and has brought in over £400.

She said: “It’s just unbelievable, even to get over £100 was fantastic. I try to keep the page updated so to interact with people and it’s not just family and friends who have donated.

“Everyone has been really generous and Alder Hey have been in touch to say thank you which is inspiring.

“They have acknowledged that I’m doing something for them when some people wouldn’t have noticed, and they are a really busy hospital.

“I’m looking forward to going back with my daughter which is a strange thing to say but it’s because of the staff, they are always pleasant and nice and really reassuring. They are fantastic with my little girl and work wonders with her.”

Emily Minnie-May Dirkin, five, was sent to Alder Hey after Lynne requested a second opinion and from there was tested for different things such as development delay and autism.

A spokesman for the hospital posted on the social media page: "Thank you so much to you and your lovely friends for supporting Alder Hey Children's Charity through your Facebook fundraiser. You're all amazing."
