ELLESMERE Port is a town with outstanding prospects and is a great place to live and work.

This is the message Sky TV adverts will broadcast throughout the North West and North Wales - starting today (Monday, September 17).

The town has a growing economy, with many large and small businesses choosing to relocate to its business parks. It also has affordable housing, low unemployment, good schools and attractive green spaces.

The 30-second Sky TV advert is a joint initiative between the Ellesmere Development Board and Marketing Cheshire.

The advert, created by Marketing Cheshire, targets potential house-movers using a special SKYadsmart profiling system, which identifies people most likely to be thinking about a move.

Cllr Angela Claydon, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s cabinet member for housing, said: “Ellesmere Port is in the middle of a house building boom and we have big plans for the redevelopment of the town centre.

“The Port really is the place to be, it’s in an enviable location with land available for development that is attracting businesses of all sizes, we have a strong manufacturing base and a growing science corridor.”

Chris Farrow, chair of Ellesmere Port Development Board, added: “Ellesmere Port is a town on a fast track to a bright future. The subject of a long-running regeneration programme, the town now offers a glittering array of facilities and lifestyle opportunities, perfect for attracting new residents and retaining existing residents.

“Our new campaign aims to target would-be homeowners who are not familiar with the town and let them know that there is affordable housing and a good lifestyle to be found at Ellesmere Port.

The Port’s future is looking bright with:

• £1.2 billion of new investment has been secured to date to develop the town and over £2.8 billion of total investment is anticipated – meaning better schools, community facilities, transport and housing.

• 2,400 more jobs created - an increase of almost 10 per cent between 2009 and 2014 (more than twice the national rate).

• 315 more businesses in the town - up 30 per cent between 2010 and 2015 – almost twice the increase seen across the North West.

• 2,150 new homes planned.

Katrina Michel, CEO of Marketing Cheshire, said: “In and around Ellesmere Port there are woodlands, canals, parks and other green areas. The town also features a new Sports Village that includes two swimming pools, an 80-station gym and athletics track. It has outstanding shopping, being home to one of Britain’s biggest designer outlets, McArthur Glen, and to the largest Mark & Spencer store outside London. Just nine miles from the centre of historic Chester, the town has a thriving market and large library.”

The Sky TV advert is the latest chapter in a marketing campaign run since 2016 to raise awareness of the town.

This has included a programme of social media, blogging and material such as the ‘Ten Reasons why to move to Ellesmere Port’ film, which can be found at www.marketingcheshire.co.uk/the-ports-the-place
