A MAN who was drunk and disorderly outside a Chester nightclub emailed the court to say he would not be able to attend Chester Magistrates Court for his case to be heard.

Daniel Williams, 27, of Olveston Road, Horfield, Bristol, added he pleaded guilty to the charges of being drunk and and disorderly in the early hours of August 5, and resisting Chester PC Beth Higginson when she tried to arrest him.

Williams asked for the case to be heard in his absence.

Magistrates accepted his guilty pleas on Monday, September 3, agreed to hear the case and sentenced him to a £440 fine, plus £85 court costs and a £44 victim surcharge.

Prosecuting, Alan Curams said it was at 3am when Williams was being abusive with Rosies nightclub door staff, was told move away from the area, but returned to be abusive once more.

Police arrived to reason with him and give him a dispersal order but he provided false information, saying his name was James David, and he was subsequently arrested.

When PC Higginson went to handcuff him he resisted, and he was verbally abusive to officers while in transport on his way to custody.

Williams, who had no previous convictions, added in his email to court he wished to “apologise profusely” for his “out of character” actions.
