STAFF and customers at Piste Wine Bar and Restaurant in Tarporley enjoyed a 'Pistey Blinders' party to help local people with cancer.

James Hughes, owner of Piste, has supported the work of The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity at his restaurants for many years in memory of school friend Tom Arnold.

Former King’s School Chester pupil Tom Arnold died in June 2012 of oesophageal cancer at the age of just 27.

James, with his staff and customers, has raised in excess of £6,000 over the past four years, including this most recent event, which has raised over £3,500 to help people with cancer in the region.

A 'Peaky Blinders' dress code was held for the evening.

Fundraising efforts in memory of Tom Arnold have now raised over £75,000 for the charity.

Elspeth Wilson, fundraising manager for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, said: "Thank you so much to James and all the staff and customers at Piste in Tarporley – we are very grateful to have the support of such generous people right across the region, who are helping to change the lives of future generations of cancer patients and their families."

The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is working to raise £15 million towards the construction of a new specialist hospital in Liverpool city centre and improvements to the Wirral site.
