STAFF at the Countess of Chester Hospital went the extra mile in aid of an invaluable blood transport service.
The Blood Bikes charity is run entirely by volunteers who use motorcycles to provide a courier service free of charge to the NHS.
To express appreciation of this, the staff of the Blood Pathology Laboratory at the Countess of Chester entered the Chester 10k and half-marathons to raise funds for the Blood Bikes. A total of £1,099.30 was raised.
The Shrops, Staffs and Cheshire Blood Bikes serve the Countess and other Cheshire hospitals by responding to urgent requests to transport blood and platelets from the regions Blood Banks.
