A YOGA instructor has raised £230 by teaching a relaxation session on Thurstaston cliffs to help provide free accommodation for poorly children and their families

Clare Hasted, of Love Yoga Wirral, hosted the session, attended by 28 people, to raise cash for the Ronald McDonald House Charity at Arrowe Park Hospital.

Teaching pregnancy and baby yoga, Clare has got to know families who have benefitted from the charity and wanted to do something to help.

She told the Globe: “I am so grateful to everyone who came to the class.

"It’s a joy to practice yoga with kind, caring and friendly people whilst raising money for a cause which is close to our hearts.”

Laura Gibson, a mum from West Kirby who took part in the charity session said it was nice to have some 'adult time' to relax.

She said: "When my son Henry came early it was all a bit of a whirlwind and when I was offered a room in Arrowe Park I thought, I don’t need one I only live down the road.

"After seeing the facilities, meeting the lovely staff and realising Henry would be in longer than we thought I snapped a room up and was so happy I did.

"I never wanted to leave him over night and it was so nice being able to pop down when I wanted to and to meet other parents like us.

“I’ve made some lovely friends from there and myself and another Laura are hoping to plan a fundraiser event later in the year too.

"I have to say a huge thanks to Clare; it was really lovely of her to offer to do the yoga class for charity and it means so much to our family.

"It was a fantastic session and was nice to have some adult time to relax.”

Around the UK there are 14 houses in or near hospital ground to enable families of seriously ill children to stick close by when they are undergoing treatment.

Community fundraiser at Ronald McDonald Megan Owen told the Globe: “We would like to thank Clare for her support.

"We are very lucky to have amazing supporters like her in our local community helping us help our families.

"We are also looking forward to the event that Laura and her friend are organising later this year, as past families they know first-hand how important a facility like this is so would like to thank them for wanting to help future families that may be faced with a similar journey.”
