MONTY Python star Michael Palin is heading to Heswall as part of his upcoming book tour.

The Sheffield born comedian, actor and writer will spend just one hour signing his latest travel book 'Erebus' at Linghams on October 4.

Michael's new book tells the tale of the extraordinary HMS Erebus and recount the journeys it took from its launch in 1826.

In September 2014, the HMS Erebus was discovered at the bottom of the Canadian Arctic - its whereabouts had been a mystery for more than a century and a half.

The television globetrotter uses the book to explore the intertwined careers of the men who shared the journeys of HMS Erebus and recounts the experiences of the men who first stepped ashore on Antarctica's Victoria Land and those, who a few years later, froze to death in the Arctic wastes as rescue missions desperately tried to reach them.

In order to tell the tale, Michael travelled to locations such as Tasmania, the Falklands and the Canadian Arctic to search for information and to experience first hand the conditions that confronted Erebus and the crew.

The event is ticketed only and includes a copy of Erebus.

Tickets are £21.79 and are available via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/michael-palin-book-signing-lunchtime-tickets-48280125154
