PUPILS of Rivacre Valley Primary School, Ellesmere Port, reached new depths in their project focusing on how plastic pollution affects underwater creatures.
The children worked with Chester Zoo and Ignite Teaching School Alliance on the topic of conservation and how, as future custodians of the planet, they can make a difference.
Youngsters learned about the devastating effects of plastic pollution on oceans and the wildlife. Armed with that knowledge, they rallied local businesses to consider how they can make a positive change in their plastic use.
So far, the pupils have received more than 150 reusable bottles donated by local businesses.
An exhibition of the schoolchildren's work took place recently, which saw the school transformed into an underwater environment which a life-size whale had swam through.
The magical event showcased the children's work and celebrated the school's pledge to 'clean up our act'.
