PUPILS of St Clare's Catholic Primary School have highlighted the importance of conservation with their very own creature feature.

Youngsters at the Lache school have been working hard on the theme of 'The Whole World in Our Hands', first spending a day at Chester Zoo researching all the different aspects of conservation work carried out there.

Key Stage Two children investigated the causes leading to so many endangered species, while Key Stage One children found out about the negative impact of plastic on oceans and sea life.

Pupils then produced amazing artwork, models and displays made out of plastic bottles and junk materials.

They have also written letters of persuasion to the Government, along with fact files about looking after the planet, and stories about conservation.

Children also debated the use of unsustainable palm oil and created arguments for why the planet needs to be looked after.

All the work has been displayed in a special exhibition of vibrant displays and interactive pieces in the school hall which families and the local community have been impressed with. Pupils have been on hand to guide visitors around the various showpieces.

One of the pupils, William Hodgson, said he thought the whole project has been an enormous success.

He added he was speechless when he saw how the work had been displayed so creatively.
