A CELEBRITY panel discussion on health and happiness in later life has been held at Storyhouse in Chester.

Luxury Cheshire retirement village Gifford Lea by Inspired Villages, based in Tattenhall, hosted the free event, chaired by TV presenter Gloria Hunniford OBE, with Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies' Dr Dawn Harper on the panel.

More than 100 people from Chester and further afield turned up to take part in a lively panel discussion with TV GP Dr Dawn Harper) and Rebecca Parker from Inspired Villages.

The panel covered various topics, including the health benefits of a happy later life, the importance of community and how to keep our brains active in later life.

Questions were then extended to the audience where several participants enjoyed an energetic discussion with Gloria, Dawn and Rebecca.

Rebecca Parker of Inspired Villages said: "It was fantastic to spend an afternoon sharing thoughts on ways to enjoy getting older.

"This is the second event that we have run with Gloria and Dawn to huge success. The topic of health and happiness in later life is something extremely important to us at Inspired Villages and the response to our '101 ways to enjoy retirement' campaign has been overwhelming.

"With the help and support of Gloria and Dawn, we are keen to spread the word and keep the conversation going with as many people as possible.

"This is why we will continue taking the '101 event' on a roadtrip around the UK this year, so watch this space!"

Prior to the discussion, the audience was encouraged to submit their own top tips for 'ways to enjoy getting older'.
