PUPILS from a Saltney primary school enjoyed a fun-filled day at their annual sports day.
Wood Memorial School held their sports day on Tuesday in sweltering conditions on the hottest day of the year so far.
But the heat did not deter both the pupils and parents from enjoying a day full of races, including the egg and spoon and 100 meter sprints.
There was even time for an impromptu parents race at the end of the day.
The pupils were provided with sun safe bands, which change colour when they need to add more sun cream. Water bottles were provided by Welsh Water and a hydration station by Newydd Catering services.
Ceri Williams, headteacher, said: ''It was such an enjoyable day, the children had loads of fun and were really well behaved.
''A big thank you to children for taking part in great spirit and for the parents for their fantastic support throughout the day.''
