Lunch clubs are not just for lunch.

That is the message from Pathfinder, a Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority funded project with the aim of helping older people access services in their community and to support them feeling less isolated.

This can be by supporting them engage in some form of social activity that takes place locally. Attending one of the many lunch clubs that are held within Cheshire West is a great way to reduce the feeling of isolation and loneliness.

Currently, there are daytime activities funded under this programme in Blacon, Lache, Hartford, Kelsall, Tarporley, Tattenhall, Neston, Ellesmere Port, Hoole, Tarvin, Frodsham, Northwich, Little Neston, Malpas, Helsby and Sandiway.

Lunch clubs are not just about receiving a good home cooked meal, it’s about leaving your home and meeting friendly people, engaging in various activities such as crafts, bingo, paining and music, listening to an interesting speaker who may bring guests, or enjoying an outing to the theatre or a garden centre.

These services can help people create new long-lasting friendships and can support them in accessing other services.

If you or you know of someone who would be interested in attending a lunch club, contact the Pathfinder team by calling 01244 329777 or visit the Pathfinder web page http://www.cheshireaction.org.uk/adult-health/ for more information.
