THE rain held off and hundreds of pounds were raised for a worthy cause at Lache Primary School's summer fair on Wednesday (June 20).

The fundraiser took place in the grounds of the school and proceeds went to the Lache Nursery makeover project.

There were plenty of activities for youngsters to enjoy at the summer fair, including donkey rides, a doughnut decoration stall, face painting, crazy hairspray, a popcorn stall and a raffle.

Pupils also had the rare chance to soak Lache Primary School headteacher Rob Pullen.

Nursery teacher Lauren Carnell said: "It started raining before the parents turned up but it stopped before the fair began and the sun came out by the end.

"We raised a total of £450 for the nursery – we are trying to redo the outdoor area and we are holding a number of fundraisers for that, so there will be a better area for the children.

"We would also like to thank Morrisons in Saltney for their donations for the hotdogs."
