Ellesmere Port Amateur Swimming Club hosted the recent Junior Schools Swimming Gala at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

Sixteen local schools competed, with some children taking part in a swimming gala for the first time. The viewing area was packed full of very proud supportive parents, making for a great atmosphere.

In the freestyle relay Our Lady's won the girls event and Childer Thornton were the winning boys team.

Overall gala winners were Bishop Wilson. All medals and trophy presentations were made by the Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Councillor Karen Shore.

This year Ellesmere Port Swimming Club will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. Having been founded in 1968, before the EPIC was even built the club started with 300 members and has developed swimming in the town for nearly 50 years.
