“PHEW, what a scorcher!” echoed around Chester and riders took part in the Bike Chester race on Sunday.

Championed by Redrow Homes and organised by the experienced team at Iconic Cycling Events, the event consists of cyclists completing rides of 25, 50 and 80 miles through the beautiful scenery of Chester and the surrounding countryside.

This year’s event supported charity was the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Backford.

After the cycling in the sunshine came to an end, organisers tweeted: “Congratulations to everyone who took part in the ride yesterday - a great turnout, beautiful weather and some much needed money raised for good causes.”

Many cyclists took to social media to comment on the scorching sunshine and the tip top organisation of the event.

Ken Noble, of Wallasey, said: “Thank you to all the organisers and sponsors of today’s event.

I had an excellent 50-mile ride today on a terrific and very well sign posted route, in fact, probably the best signposted route I have been on!

“A very enjoyable day, well done!”
