A HOSPITAL has confirmed that they will conduct a ‘formal review’ into the care of a woman who died after falling from a motorway bridge.

Claire Prince, from Bebington, died after falling from a bridge onto the M53 southbound carriageway at junction 4 on Tuesday, May 29.

It is believed that she may have been struck by a vehicle.

Unfortunately Claire was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed she had been admitted to Arrowe Park Hospital for assessment after police found her on a M53 bridge at around 6.40pm on Monday, May 28.

A spokesman from Merseyside Police said: "Officers were called the a bridge over the M53 motorway at around 6.40pm on Monday, May 28.

“Reports of concern for the safety of a woman were made and officers picked her up from the scene.

“She was taken to Arrowe Park hospital for assessment and released into their care.”

Although the hospital cannot reveal information about the circumstances, they say they will hold a ‘formal review’ into the case.

A spokeswoman for Wirral University Teaching Hospital said: “Our thoughts and sympathy are with this person’s family and loved ones following this very tragic incident.

“Although we are unable to go into specific detail about the circumstances for reasons of patient confidentiality, we can assure that a formal review will be undertaken jointly with all partner agencies involved in this patient’s care.”
