An attention seeking owl made the most of his appearance at the wedding of a Wrexham couple - when swooping unexpectedly on one of the best men.

Jeni Arrowsmith and Mark Wood married at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire and decided to hire the barn owl as a novelty ring bearer.

The beautiful moment almost turned sour when the owl, named Bobby, flapped its wings and dived in the direction of the terrified looking Con Jones and knocked him off his chair.

However, the potential Hitchcock subplot certainly didn’t detract from Jenni and Mark’s big day, on Saturday, March 17.

The incident was captured perfectly on camera by Sealand wedding photographer Stacey Oliver, who said the guests in attendance were sent into hysterics.

She said: “It was so funny when it happened, the owl had seemed fine until he was distracted by one of the best men.

“As he fell over, the laughter just started to fill the room”.

It’s not the first time Stacey has experienced an owl being used in this way, but it is certainly the first time one has gone rogue and caused such a stir.

She said “My friend had an owl at her wedding and it all went so well, so I was expecting no different this time.

“It’s certainly provided a bright story amongst the usual doom and gloom.”
