TEACHERS at a Chester school hatched a perfect plan to educate youngsters about the life cycle of hens.
They had a batch of eggs delivered to Oldfield Primary School in Vicars Cross in an incubator last Tuesday in the hope that pupils would see chicks emerging from their shells firsthand.
The egg-citement grew and by Thursday four feathered critters had made an appearance, followed soon after by a further three.
Reception teacher Fiona Wheatcroft said: "The children have enjoyed watching the hatching process and have been talking about the life cycle of hens and how to look after them.
"We have all enjoyed watching them in their cage and have also had them out to hold and stroke. We will miss them when they go back to the farm."
