THE return of snow and freezing temperatures caused disruption to the region at the weekend.

One of the events called off due to the conditions was the Mold town centre Spring Clean.

Due to be held across four days, from last Friday to Monday, organisers from the town council made the call on Saturday to postpone it.

It has already been re-arranged to take place this weekend, across two days, Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25.

Another event to fall victim to the weather was the first charity ride of the Mancot Road Runners scooter club, for safety reasons.

Riders had been hoping to undertake a tour of Flintshire to raise money for the elderly stopping off at care homes and residential homes to hand out Easter eggs and special diabetic biscuits. This has now been rearranged for Saturday, March 31.

Wrexham Rural police tweeted out a warning for children not to pelt strangers with snowballs.

The tweet read: "Kids, if you are snowball fighting please do so with friends who want to take part, not those who don't or people you don't know. You'd be amazed at how many snowball calls we receive!"

Although no more snow is expected to fall, due to low temperatures a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office is still in place for Wrexham and Flintshire into Monday morning for icy conditions.
