A COMMUNITY centre in Ellesmere Port has received some much-needed TLC - thanks to a group from The Prince's Trust.

Members of the youth charity spent up to eight hours sprucing up the garden and main hall at Overpool Community Centre on Rivacre Road.

Long-standing trustee Phyllis Kewn, 88, who has volunteered at the centre for 47 years, performed the ribbon-cutting duties.

Fellow trustee Dot Sage told The Standard they were extremely grateful to the Prince's Trust.

"Our community centre has been in need of a big dose of TLC for a long time," she said. "It's been very popular but was starting to look really run down. We are extremely lucky that the Prince's Trust picked us for one of their projects. It looks fantastic now."
