A supermarket worker has had her locks lopped off for charity.

Mandy Doyle, who works at Tesco on Frodsham Street, collected donations from generous shoppers while having her head shaved at the entrance to the store.

Mandy was raising funds for Cancer Research UK and has already collected £800 in sponsorship. That total is expected to swell when the money donated by shoppers on the day is added in.

Steve Chappell, Mandy's former manager on the fruit and veg section, travelled to Chester from Wirral where he now works to make the 'first cut' with the hair clippers. The rest of the cutting was carried out by Nicola Tuffs, who works at the Tesco store.
