A SIXTH form student at Helsby High School made it through to the semi finals of the Miss England competition.

Katy Case, 18, from Frodsham, was invited to participate after winning three awards when she was named top fundraiser as well as winning the public and social media vote.

Katy has raised £700 for the Miss World Charity Beauty with a Purpose since being selected for the competition

Katy is studying A-levels in English language, theatre studies and English literature at Helsby High School. She says that studying drama and English has had a huge impact on her life.

She said: “Studying this has transformed me from a shy, introverted child into a confident actress and writer who can successfully connect and communicate with other people. From a young age, I was inspired by the escapism and spectacle of film, literature and theatre.”

Recently, Katy competed in one of the semi finals at Kelham Hall in Newark but unfortunately didn't make it through to the Miss England national finals.

The 64 contestants were given a brief to create an outfit with the theme Lady in Red which must be recycled materials . This means something from a charity shop or that has been worn before. Katy made her own headpiece and recycled her dress.

Katy had two more chances of making it to the Miss England final as she is in the finals of the the Miss Popularity and Social Media competitions as well as the Miss England semi final that will take place at Kelham Hall in Newark.

If successful, Katy will be invited to the Miss England national finals on July 14 at Resorts World Birmingham.
