CHESTER are on the verge of securing further key transfer targets within the next 24 hours after completing a deal to sign Macclesfield Town captain Andy Halls.

Having announced their season ticket campaign, with frozen and discounted ticket prices going on sale yesterday, the Blues handed supporters a real incentive to claim their seats at the Deva Stadium, with full-back Halls signing a one-year deal last night, joining from Macclesfield Town.

Halls, a 25-year-old right-back, made over 100 appearances for Macc.

In a bid to appease the long-suffering Blues’ supporters, who endured a miserable end to last season with eight consecutive home defeats, The Leader understands boss Jon McCarthy is hopeful of securing further deals for at least two more signings before the end of this week.

“Of course, one or two attractive signings would clearly be a boost to season ticket sales and we hope to secure those signings soon,” said Blues’ chief executive Mark Maguire.

“This is an honest attempt from ourselves to engage with the supporters and hope in return they will engage and return to the club.”
