AN operatic society is putting the finishing touches to a new musical version of The Addams Family.
The St Mary’s Centre, with its Gothic surroundings, will make the ideal venue for the re-creation of the spooky Addams’ mansion, home of Gomez, his wife Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandmother (a witch), son Pugsley and daughter Wednesday, not forgetting their seven-foot-tall butler, Lurch.
In the musical version performed by the Chester Operatic Society, Gomez is facing a dilemma – his daughter Wednesday, (the ultimate princess of darkness) has fallen in love with a young man from a respectable, ordinary family, and, as if that isn’t upsetting enough, she has begged him not to tell her mother. What could possibly go wrong?
The show is directed by Claire Jones, with musical director Richard Aaron, the team which produced last year’s Company, and previous productions. It is a fun-filled, amusing show, with exciting choreography and lively songs, and will appeal to all the family.
The Addams Family Musical can be seen at St Mary’s Centre from October 1-4, with a matinee on the Sunday.
Tickets are £14 for adults, £10 for children under 16 and seniors, available from the society on 01244 675431 or www.ticketsource.co.uk/chesteroperatic
