A CITY centre hotel has reached the top 50 restaurants in this year’s Waitrose Good Food Guide.
The Michelin star restaurant at the Chester Grosvenor on Eastgate Street has reached 46th place.
Executive chef Simon Radley said: “It’s really important if you want to stay at the top of the culinary game to keep on pushing the envelope.
“To continue to be included in the Good Food Guide is really a testament to our team in the kitchen. We have a superb collection of young talent coming through our Kitchen Academy that are forever coming up with new culinary ideas; keeping our menus fresh and inspired.”
Simon Radley launched his Kitchen Academy earlier this year to support young talent with cheffing potential.
Every year 10 apprentices are taken on, trained and schooled to earn a full NVQ qualification from partners, Total People.
Simon Radley’s Kitchen Academy has been hugely successful, running at full capacity, and with a waiting list for the next influx of apprentices.
Mr Radley handpicks suppliers, keeping them as local as possible and is an advocate for the use of seasonal produce.
He said: “We have wonderful suppliers and accolades like this are a tribute to the hard work and dedication they give to the ingredients this region produces.
“I hope this year’s Good Food Guide encourages people from different regions to visit the north-west on gastronomic visits. It’s great to receive support and it just proves that if you are work hard and push culinary boundaries, you don’t have to be in London to be recognised.”
