Robber hit Chester woman with wooden cosh

A CHESTER woman was hit over the back of the head with a wooden cosh during a terrifying street robbery.

The 64-year-old victim, who has not been named by police, was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital after the morning assault in the Bache area of Upton.

Police investigating the violent robbery say the woman had been loading items into the boot of her car on the driveway of an address on Bache Hall Estate when she was hit over the head.

She turned around to see a man wielding a wooden cosh-type weapon.

The robber demanded the shocked victim hand over her mobile phone before making his escape.

Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses to the incident.

The robber is described as being about 60-years-old, with grey hair and a beard.

He was six feet tall and wearing a black fleece top, black trousers and black shoes.

He is believed to have left the area driving an old style pale blue/green coloured car.

Witnesses or anybody with information aboaut the attack, which happened at 11.30am on Friday, May 2, is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 318.
