THREE men stormed into a store on a Chester estate and escaped with a large amount of money.

Officers investigating the raid at the Spar store on The Parade in Blacon are urging members of the public who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Police have launched a hunt for the trio after they targeted the popular outlet on Western Avenue at about 10.20am on Monday.

A Cheshire Police spokesman did not confirm the amount taken but added the gang escaped with what is being described as a large quantity of money.

Police said two of the men entered through the main entrance of the shop, while the third went through the rear of the store before making off with the shop’s takings.

The police spokesman added: “They left the shop and made their way towards Church Way where police believe they got into a vehicle and left the area.

“The suspects are believed to not be local to the area as CCTV footage recovered from the store shows the suspects were not wearing any kind of disguise.”

Police are appealing for residents who saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of the Spar around that time to come foward and they are also asking for people in Church Road around that time to come forward if they saw anyone acting suspiciously or a vehicle leaving the area in a hurry.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 266 on 31/03/14. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
