AN EXTRA £2.12 million investment into super-fast broadband in Cheshire has been announced.

Businesses and residents are set to receive a boost after the Government announced that there will be additional funds for the £1.2billion scheme to improve broadband across the country.

Welcoming the decision, Chester’s MP, Stephen Mosley, who has long campaigned for an additional roll-out of super-fast broadband, said: “The announcement will be welcomed all over Chester and Cheshire.

“Speaking to local residents and local business, I know what a difference super-fast broadband can make.

The Chester MP has been pushing for further roll-outs of super-fast broadband and has joined Pulford campaigners in their bid to enable more rural communities to stay connected.

He added: “I hope that this will prove to be a welcome boost in our campaign, and will ensure that my rural constituents get the connectivity they deserve and need”.

Superfast broadband coverage in the UK is already higher than in Germany, Italy, Spain and France and the Government’s current investment is already delivering superfast upgrades to more than 10,000 more homes and businesses each week, set to rise to 40,000 premises per week by the summer.
