CHESTER’S community led sports teams have teamed up to boost the city’s business infrastructure.
Chester FC and Cheshire Phoenix Basketball are working in partnership with their principal partners, The Westgrove Group, to develop strong links for both clubs, the business and the city’s wider business community.
The Westgrove Group, along with the two clubs, aim to engage with local companies to improve career opportunities in the region and deliver greater employment through their partnership.
Steve Fives, co-chairman of the the Westgrove Group explained: “Co-chairman Simon Whittle and I have been astounded at the passion that representatives of both organisations demonstrate.
“Westgrove run a reward and recognition programme for our colleagues, that has involved bringing friends and family to both The Swansway Stadium and the Northgate Arena over the course of this season.
“We’ve witnessed first-hand the significant difference this can make to our teams and I would like to encourage local companies to put something back and become involved with our local community clubs.
Chester FC business development manager Dave Riche said: We are delighted to work with our sponsors and their chairman, Steve Fives, who is driving this initiative and there is a lot of synergy when it comes to the community ethos being spread by both the football club and Cheshire Phoenix.
“We want to grow all areas of our club from getting out in to the schools and community to working within the business fraternity.
“When sponsors want to boost the profile of our club through positive and forward thinking initiatives, then we are only too keen to work with them for the benefit of Chester FC, Cheshire Phoenix and creating local employment opportunities with the Westgrove Group.”
Andrew Donaldson, chairman of Cheshire Phoenix added: “Westgrove stepped up and not only offered support to our city’s two professional teams they have also added value and provided additional support to the clubs."
