Trowbridge is the only place outside London where the winners of this year’s Derwent Art Prize are being exhibited – at the Town Hall until November 22.

The prize celebrates the best art produced using pencils, sponsored by Derwent and it attracted entries worldwide.

Tracy Sullivan, director of Trowbridge Arts, said: “We are thrilled to host this prestigious exhibition... Trowbridge Town Hall is a wonderful space to show inspiring visual art.”

Professor Anita Taylor, Dean of Bath School of Art and Design and judge of the Derwent Art Prize said the prize was an exciting way to celebrate contemporary drawing through pencil whether it was graphite, charcoal, carbon, coloured wax, pastel or watercolour.

More than 60 pieces of art are displayed. There is also a talk by one of the judges, artist Anita Taylor on Wednesday, November 19 at 11.30am. Places should be booked by emailing trowarts@ gmail.com. The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday from 10-4pm and is free to enter.
