KNOWN as the Glastonbury for four-legged friends, DogFest will head to Cheshire next month.

This year's event will take place at Cholmondeley Castle from June 16 to 17.

The event will offer dog-orientated handy tips, competition and shows.

The newly announced super-smart ShadowQuest Dog Display Team will also perform in the 'Dog Activity Ring', sponsored by Animal Friends, showcasing a team of talented pooches who will show off cool tricks such as abseiling down a 30ft tower, zip-wiring across the ring and juming through hoops of fire.

There will also be a 'Dogs with Jobs' area featuring a cast of pooches who work for a living including 'Medical Detection Dogs' who can detect life-threatening conditions such as cancer and Parkinson's through scent.

Britain's Got Talent's Lucy Heath will appear in the 'School 4 Dogs' ring, with demonstration videos from dog experts and trainers.

Other popular behaviour workshops include 'Puppy School', obedience displays and teaching your dog to perform using props.

The brilliant Fun Dog Show, sponsored by the RSPCA, will host various classes as the extremely popular Fun Dog Competition returns.

The competition is open to all visiting dogs and categories include Best Rescue Dog, Golden Oldie, Cool Pup and Happiest Dog at The Show.

Entrants will compete daily to win the coveted Best in Show rosette.

Applications to compete open at the beginning of May via www.dog-fest.co.uk

Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick will lead the carnival inspired 'DogFest Parade' while festival goers will get the chance to meet celebrity dogs at the 'Hound Hang Out'.
