REDS and Blues fans will cast aside their rivalry to raise funds for charity following a boy’s brave battle against cancer.
Wrexham Charity Football Club and Chester Fans FC will take to the pitch for two games in memory of Jaxon Langford.
Jaxon died aged just six at his home in Heol y Ffynnon, Bradley in October last year after being diagnosed with a stage four neuroblastoma in 2015.
The matches will be held at the Rock, home of Cefn Druids FC, at 2pm on May 26 with a second match to be played at a date and location to be confirmed.
Proceeds will go towards the Team Jaxon appeal, which the youngster’s parents Gareth and Danielle set up to raise funds for charities and good causes that helped Jaxon during his battle with cancer.
The two clubs have held fundraising football matches for around three years, raising nearly £4,000 various good causes.
Liam Braisdell, of Wrexham Charity FC, is organising the fixtures with Chester Fans FC manager Ben Miotti and told how he chose the cause after reading a story in the Leader.
Liam said: “ Jaxon touched the hearts of a lot of fans and players at Wrexham, so it was ideal that we do it for that cause.”
Admission to the first match will be in return for a £1 donation.
