VANDALS wrote obscenities on the walls of a Chester primary school during a bank holiday weekend break-in.
Intruders entered Highfield Primary School, Blacon Point Road, Blacon, through rear windows of the property and ransacked the ground floor.

The taps were turned on and left running in the toilets and obscene words were written on white boards.

The vandals left the building through a rear fire door.

Headteacher John Evans said the taps had only been left on for a matter of hours and minimal damage was caused to the school, which reopened on Tuesday.

"We've got a classroom with 50 per cent lino floor and 50 per cent carpet.

"The carpet was very wet so the caretaker soaked up the water," he said.

No arrests have been made but police are analysing forensic evidence taken at the school.

Speaking about the vandalism, PC Paul Taylor said: "It has an impact on the number of schoolchildren that go there, and the parents.

"It affects a massive circle."

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should call 0845 458 0000.
